Inaugural
Auchenflower Community and Cultural Festival
DATE: Sunday, 16th September, 2001
TIME: 11am to 5 pm
LOCATION: Toowong Park (adjacent to the Queensland Basketball Stadium)
Dixon Street, Auchenflower
THEMES: Environment: History: Community: Lifestyle :Food & Wine
OFFICIAL OPENING: 1.30 pm by Professor J Pearn
Professor Pearn has indicated his willingness to have available for sale copies of his excellent book "Auchenflower The Suburb and the Name" (1997) and will autograph any purchases if requested.
We are arranging to have a scanner and laser printer at the History "tent" during the Festival. We are requesting that patrons who have historic photographs of Auchenflower homes, streetscapes, trees etc to bring them along so they can be scanned and recorded on CD Rom while not allowing their precious possession out of their safe keeping. In this way the Alliance can further one of its Objects "To identify aspects of Auchenflower's natural, historic and built environment that warrant preservation and to take steps to have them preserved". We plan to formally hand over these materials (in CD form) to the Oxley Library.
For further details contact Jackie Bentley, Ph/Fax 3371 2660
