MEETING TIMES AND DATES

The Toowong History group, which is a sub-group of the West Toowong Community Group Inc. meets every first Thursday of the month, except in school holidays.

Time :7:00pm-8:30 pm.

Coffee and Tea available afterwards.

Venue: The Toowong Primary School Library. Enter via the Kate St gate and parking is on the school parade ground. The stairs to the library is immediately in front of the parking area.

The Toowong History group would like to acknowledge the generosity of the Primary School in hosting our meetings for 2005

In 1867 when the Dovercourt Estate was advertised for sale, it was described as situated in the 'Neighborhood of Toowong' (Brisbane Courier 25 March 1867).

Toby The Postman's Dog- his little memorial headstone is in the garden where it should be, next to the Business Centre (where the posties pass each day) in Ebor Lane. The staff of the Post Office can show you.

The older residents of Toowong refer to (what we now know as) Toowong Creek as Moggill Creek. Which was how it used to be known. Arthur Palmer

The house on the Palmer Estate (Toowong College grounds) was known as "Easton Grey". The house was originally called Ormlie. Arthur Palmer
